Beach Counseling & Psychotherapy Associates

The psychotherapists at Beach Counseling & Psychotherapy have served the greater Saco area for more than 15 years. Together, they have more than 75 years of practice experience , and maintain an on-going commitment to professional development. The clinicians at BC&PA bring varied experiences in education, training, and teaching that contribute to the overall excellence of the group.

Robert E. Cummings, Ph.D., LCSW

Bob received his degrees from Northeastern University, Boston College and Brandeis University. Bob has over 30 years of teaching and practice experience. In addition to clinical work, Bob has worked as Executive Director and Clinical Coordinator in several community mental health centers. Also, Bob has taught clinical practice and theory courses in several academic settings from 1972 to 2004. He has taught and practiced in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Indiana and Maine. While he has worked with families, couples and children during his career, he currently works primarily with adults. Bob has been very active in his profession, serving on national and local boards. He has also acted as founding member of several professional organizations. He is known for offering theory and practice seminars and workshops. He enjoys longer-term, in-depth, psychotherapeutic work.

Anne Savona, LCSW

Anne is a graduate of St Francis College, and received her master’s degree in social work from the University of New England School of Social Work. She has experience working in community mental health agencies and has been in private practice since 1993. She is a licensed clinical social worker and has been an associate at Beach Counseling and Psychotherapy since 1998. Her interest in clinical work and the social work profession is demonstrated by her service on the Board of Directors of the Maine Society of Clinical Social Work and the Maine Psychotherapy Association. Anne works with adults and older adolescents in both individual and in couple’s psychotherapy. She does both short-term counseling as well as longer-term psychotherapy, and places great value on the healing nature of relationships and interpersonal process.

Ann E. Gayer, LCSW

Ann received her undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire and her MSW degree from the University of Connecticut. Her extensive experience includes practice in community mental health centers, providing clinical services and supervision to staff and student interns. She has been an Adjunct Clinical Professor for a number of academic institutions. In addition, Ann has made important contributions to the social work profession by serving on the Boards of Directors of both the Maine Society for Clinical Social Work and the Maine Psychotherapy Association. She has developed and implemented clinical programming within geriatric settings. Ann is passionate about psychotherapeutic practice. She works with adults in both individual and couples therapy. Ann has maintained a private practice since 1994 and has been an associate at Beach Counseling and Psychotherapy since 2000.
